Dr. R. E. Margo Elementary is located at 1701 S. Bridge Ave, Weslaco, TX 78596. It currently serves over 900 students in grades Pre-K through 5th. The percentage of students achieving proficiency in Math is 60% (which is higher than the Texas state average of 49%) for the 2017-2018 school year. The percentage of students achieving proficiency in reading/language arts is 47% (which is higher than the Texas state average of 45%) for the 2017-2018 school year. Dr. R.E. Margo Elementary School  placed in the top 30% of all schools in Texas for the 2017-2018 school year. In 2019, Dr. R. E. Margo ranked better than 61% elementary schools in Texas. Margo also ranks 5th among 10 ranked elementary schools in WISD.

Dr. R. E. Margo is a Leader in Me School based on the popular  Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Steven Covey. Using the same habits, Margo Elementary strives to turn them into action for students and teachers.   The leadership team meets throughout the year to plan activities, identify areas of improvement and growth, and discuss how they  are growing as a campus and as leaders. Faculty and staff model the seven habits in the classroom.  The goal is for faculty , staff, students and administration to internalize these habits so they can begin to operate at their highest potential which will result in huge dividends as a school.  Instilling these timeless principles into each student at Margo Elementary will allow them to thrive in 21st century higher education or work environments.
